Lamb of God

Lamb of God

2022-09-24

Lamb of God brought their tour to Chicago's Aragon Ballroom and it was an awesome show even though the venue was switched. Originally LOG was supposed to be performing at the Huntington Bank Pavilion but for unknown reasons, the show was moved indoors to the Aragon which some people were glad about and others were not. Personally I get it and it happens, don’t get me wrong though, I wish we could have had the pyro like the rest of the tour, which wasn't available inside the Aragon, but hey there is always next time! The band still kicked ass and that's what the show is all about it. You can't let one little thing bring you down.

There was plenty of smoke on the stage when the band started off the night singing "Memento Mori". During the curtain drop, to get the crowd pumped, singer Randy Blythe did his world famous cannonball jump off the drumset area. It was honestly a night to remember!

The band's 15 song set fit them the atmosphere perfectly...

Amyl and the Sniffers

Amyl and the Sniffers

2022-09-23

Amyl and the Sniffers are a self-described lot of "lunatic likable punks" from Melbourne, Australia. Inspired by 70's punk-rock, the band consists of vocalist Amy Taylor, drummer Bryce Wilson, guitarist Dec Martens, and bassist Fergus Romer who all put on a "ball-tearing live show."

The energy emulating from the crowd was electric, and even more so when Amy took the stage with an erratic energy to the shouts of "Oi! Oi! Oi!" coming from the crowd!

The bands 18-song setlist consisted heavily of tracks from their 2021 album Comfort To Me - a record largely written during the 2019-2020 Australian Brushfire that was followed by the pandemic lockdowns. The album is full of frustration with people, politics, and the world as a whole.

Opening their set with 2019's...

Mannequin Pussy

Mannequin Pussy

Mannequin Pussy has always been confrontational and not afraid to speak their truth. The Philadelphia trio made of Marisa "Missy" Dabice on lead vocals and guitar, Colins "Bear" Regisford on bass, and Kaleen Reading on drums did not disappoint. They took time in between songs to speak of their frustrations and how we can be allies for others.

The setlist spanned their decade as a band with tracks "Piss Drinker" and "Meat Slave 3" from their 2014 self-titled EP; "Pledge" and "Kiss" from 2016's Romantic; as well as "Cream" and "Drunk ll" from 2019's Patience.

They closed out with newer tracks "Perfect" and "Pigs Is Pigs" - a track sung by Regisford that speaks about racial profiling...

Everyone can have a rough day. Sometimes you wake up with the greatest of intentions and things go downhill rapidly from there. Lauren Isenbrg, better known to the world as renforshort, and Justus Bennetts successfully opened their "Dear Amelia" tour in Toronto on Thursday night and were about to begin the US leg in Detroit on Saturday. What started as a day of excitement and untold possibilities suddenly turned into what could have been a really bad day. Getting delayed at the Detroit-Windsor border crossing wasn't bad. That can often happen and you can sometimes expect these things, especially when crossing with a tour bus. However, when they confiscate pretty much all your merchandise that you brought with you to sell on the tour, as well as several person items, clothing and instruments, you might be having a bad day. As if tours aren't stressful enough when everything is going smoothly, something like this can be taxing on your mental health and it would have been understandable if they would have just said "nope, we can't do this tonight"...

The Academy Is...

The Academy Is...

2022-09-17

It’s been 7 years since The Academy Is... has played a show. No one knew 2015 would be their last tour and we wouldn't have a chance to see them perform again for seven years. But here we are, with The Academy Is... closing out the Riot Fest on Sunday. However they played a sold out afterparty show on Saturday at Concord Music Hall and it was an amazing night.

For starters, when this show was announced fans went nuts for tickets, to the point where the show sold out almost immediately and you ended up having to get tickets from a re-seller if you weren't able to get them early.

The setlist is what any The Academy Is... fan could have dreamed of! It was fifteen songs and they played a nice mixture of all their albums. On top of that, for the encore played "Bring It (Snakes on the plane)" a Cobra Starship cover with Gabe Saporta, the singer of both...

Midtown

2022-09-17

This must be the year of reunions because Midtown has come back to play a Riot Fest After show at Concord Music Hall as Direct Support for The Academy Is. Midtown had played their last show/tour in 2014 and broke up shortly afterward 2015 as they decided to focus on their personal lives and family! It’s been 7 years now and fans could not be more excited with the return of this band!

Originally, Midtown was announced to be heading on tour for a few dates with My Chemical Romance. Then it was also announced that they would be playing on the 3rd day of Riot Fest. Then it got even better because the band decided to do a small intimate show at Concord Music Hall with The Academy Is on a Saturday night.

My only complaint was the lighting. It was quite dark, especially in the beginning, but it happens. Other than that it was great. The band sounded absolutely amazing. They kept it fun by telling jokes and talking about their lives and what they have been up too since the break up, and even talked about...

Waterparks

Waterparks

2022-09-17

Waterparks is currently on tour as direct support for the legendary Blackbear and they are so much fun to watch. There are a few things I enjoyed during their set. For Starters, the band is huge on safety. At this show, fans were passing out from heat left, right, and center. It was insane. The band stopped a few times to help security be able to get people out of the crowd and into safety. That was a huge deal to me because of the recent events at shows. I will say yes it can be annoying when a band has to stop their set because of someone but it shows they would much rather make sure a fan is okay then play and watch someone get hurt.

Their setlist was only 10 songs long, opening with "Numb" and ending with "Turbulent"! The band also played their most recent single "SELF-SABOTAGE". They kept the setlist pretty relevant to their newer stuff but also sprinkled in some of their older stuff. The crowd absolutely loved them and I think they gained a lot of new fans to add to their already large fan base in ...

My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance

2022-09-13

It’s been 11 years. 11 years since My Chemical Romance last performed a show in Michigan. 11 years ago no one knew that would be the last tour they would do before deciding to break up the band until 2019. In December of 2019 My Chemical Romance reunited and did an L.A. show and people everywhere went nuts over the possibility of what "Might be". Why? Because their favorite band had gotten back together and announced a tour for 2020. Sadly, the 2020 tour got moved to 2021 due to Covid, and then was moved again to 2022. But it finally happened and I was lucky enough to be able to attend the sold out show at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit Michigan, my home town.

This tour held a lot of emotions for me; I was literally crying happy tears. They played songs that reminded you of better times or of a loved one. At least that was my experience and from what I can tell, many other fans as well. The show started with "The Foundations of Decay", which is their latest song that was released this year. After that, they played "I’m not okay (I Promise)" and the fans went nuts! People were crowd surfing, moshing, head bannging and just letting loose! Honestly, I enjoyed their setlist being a mix of everything...

Field Guide

Field Guide

2022-09-06

Entering The Social, an intimate venue in London, on September 6th, 2022, I knew that I’d be treated to the equally intimate lyrics of Dylan MacDonald, better known professionally as Field Guide. What I wasn’t prepared for was the comfortable charm, the subtle jokes that rolled naturally across the crowd, breaking the air of sadnesses that blanketed most of the setlist. After a flight from Canada where he resides and a brief shopping trip to replace is his lost luggage, the crowd was treated to a 14 song set, dabbled with unreleased songs, a Bon Iver cover, and an impromptu encore.

Field Guide's first time in the UK, or Europe, was met with a warm enthusiasm. He is currently touring in support of Penny and Sparrow through the first of October, after which his new self-titled album will be released on October 28th, 2022. If his hilariously sung remark, "I can do whatever I want because I don't make commercial music", has anything to show, this album will be full of surprises.

IDK How But The Found Me

IDK How But The Found Me

2022-08-25

IDK How But They Found Me just started their Welcome to Helvetica summer tour with Joywave Co-headlining with them. It was the first night of the tour and they got off to a great start! IDK played the Metro and were the headliners for the night which I was really excited about! This was my second time seeing them live and I love to see what they are bringing to the table and excited to see what will be on their setlist this time around!

The band played sixteen songs including a few covers, like "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" and "A Letter". They also had the singer of Joywave, Daniel Armbruster, come out and join them for "Nobody Likes the Opening Band". Daniel added his own verse to the song which really made the night more special!

The band's lighting was rather dark, especially compared to the last time I saw them. They did have a giant LED screen behind them that would show text or random graphics which was honestly really cool! I've came to expected nothing less from them and I am excited to...
