Blame My Ex Tour

The Beaches

With Support From:

Boyish

2024-03-02

There are bands that you listen to on the regular that you like, and there are bands that you LOVE. The Beaches are definitely the later. I'm loving their current album, Blame My Ex, and it's great hearing "Blame Brett", the first single off the album, getting some love as it is currently in regular rotation on one of the local radio stations.

When I saw The Beaches would be bringing their Blame My Ex Tour to Detroit, I know I wanted to go see them again. They are one of the incredibly rare live bands I could see over and over again. Whenever they play Detroit, it's different then when most other Canadian bands play here. The Beaches have some incredible fans and it's not uncommon for the majority of the crowd to cross the border to see their favourite band perform live. In fact, I lost count of the number of people I heard saying they made the 4+ hour trip from Toronto to see them live. It almost feels like a homecoming show when they play here. With their recent stop on Jimmy Kimmel Live it's not surprising that there were more than the usual number of local fans helping to sell out the night. In fact, the Blame My Ex Tour has been selling out almost every night on...

Dead on Arrival Tour

ericdoa

With Support From:

bixby

2024-02-23

What started out as a cold night in Detroit turned hot fast once ericdoa and bixby took the stage for their respective sets.

While bixby started the night off and had the sold-out crowd jumping (literally) throughout his 30 minute set, thing heated up even more when ericdoa took the stage. The hyper-pop star seemed to be fueled by the solid riffs and bad-ass beats his tour musicians were giving us. When combined with ericdoa's lyrics, the resulting sound had the audience dancing like few other concerts I've been to. The only people I could see not moving to the music were the handful of parents sitting in the hall's overflow room.

We were treated to 20 songs of almost non-stop music with the only breaks in his performance coming when ericdoa would pause to remind people to drink water and stay hydrated, or for a momentary interaction with some lucky fans.

I was left wondering if ericdoa knows how dedicated his...

Hinder

Hinder is one of those bands you might not realize you know until you hear the first line to "Lips Of An Angel". It's one of those songs everyone knows the lyrics to, but no one really knows who it is from. Whenver the song comes on, it gets everyone to start screaming and singing out at the bar. I'm sure you know exactly what I am talking about because you have probably done the same thing! I am saying this because Hinder is currently on tour, and they are probably coming to a city near you. Those who recognize the name are buying their tickets and selling out the venues rapidly. If you see Hinder is coming, check out their music because you'll likely recognize it and then get your tickets fast. Why you would wanna see them? Let me tell you about my experience when they played at The Forge here in Joliet IL.

Hinder opened with a lot of...

2024 Farewell Tour

ISSUES

With Support From:

Nightlife

OCEANO

2024-01-13

After a lot of deep conversations within the band, ISSUES has decided it is time to call it an end and break up. To show their appreciation to the fans for all the support they have received over the years, they wanted to say goodbye in a big way and go out with a bang. They decided to do a mini Farewell Tour, playing 6 final shows in January as a way to remember all the fun times. Fans in and around L.A., Chicago and Atlanta were treated to 2 shows each, with a different venue each night. I was very fortunate enough to cover the first Chicago show on the Farewell Tour at the Concord Music Hall. It was super touching and a very emotional experience overall.

The many fans of ISSUES gathered at the Concord to see what can be argued as one of their best shows. A lot of the fans also loved Brian Butcher, from the band Home Team, who filled in on vocals for these final shows. Brian is...

The Word Alive

Catch Your Breath

2023-12-13

From Ashes to New are currently headlining on their Blackout Tour with direct support from The Word Alive and Catch Your Breath. Holy smokes, it was a killer show! I became a fan of From Ashes to New earlier this year when I saw them open for Shinedown back in April, so when I saw this headlining tour I knew I had to be there. I am so happy I was!

The band had one of the best set ups I have ever seen at the Concord and it was very cool! The stage had a lot of raisers and LED screens! Their set started with TV playing a fake video game with the bands and tour name on it. It gave me major retro vibes, but it was unique and the fans...

Dirty Honey

Can't Find the Brakes Tour

Dirty Honey

With Support From:

Austin Meade

2023-12-07

Iconic bands are easily recognized by the iconic logos or fonts that they use. As soon as you see them, you know the band. There is no confusion when you see the classic Tongue logo of The Rolling Stones, the Prism logo from Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon, the Wing's logo from Aerosmith, or the Lightning Bolts that Metallica use in their font. Those who know Dirty Honey know their "Honey Lips" logo. It's classic. And if Dirty Honey keeps delivering the fantastic shows they are becoming known for, their logo may soon achieve that same iconic status.

L.A.'s home grown hard rockers are currently travelling North America on their Can't Find The Brakes Tour. They definitely couldn't find the brakes on their high energy show. From the opening song, the tour's namesake and most recent LP's title track, "Can't Find The Brakes", to...

Rivals

2023-11-16

Bringing people together to give each and everyone of us a support system is the goal of Scene Queen's Bimbo Beta Pi Sorority. She reminded us, we all paid our dues (in the form of purchasing our ticket) so we are all full fledged members who should be looking out for one another. It's a fantastic ideal and honestly the world would be a much better and happier place if we all decided to work together, care for each other, and accept the fact that everyone is different. Being different is what makes us each the unique individuals we are. In a world of 8+ billion people, only you can be you and you can't be anyone aside from who you were born to be. It certainly sounds like a simple concept, yet you have politicians and radical groups all around the world who think they know what's best on how to regulate what we can do to our own bodies. Thankfully, we have artists like Scene Queen and Misterwives who will not intimidated and are actively speaking out against these people.
While Scene Queen does give us the music we came out to hear, she brings...

Skinny Puppy

Final Tour

Skinny Puppy

With Support From:

LEAD INTO GOLD

2023-11-13

Skinny Puppy is saying goodbye. After 40 years together, they are on their final tour giving one last chance for fans to come out and see them live. It's sad to see this legendary band say goodbye and Chicago made sure to let them knew how much they are loved, selling out 2 of the 3 nights they played here and made each night better than the last! I was excited to attend the 1st night and I loved their show!

Classified as industrial rock, which is still rock music, Skinny Puppy brings a different sound merging hard hitting beats with a grunge vibe and creates really cool edgy music. When these industrial pioneers started out in the 80s and 90s there were very few other bands creating that sound and Skinny Puppy really captured that fan base! While I love their music, so I knew I would also love their concert, I was amazed with their live show. Skinny Puppy were more then just musicians, they are also performers! They gave us costumes, story telling, props, and even another actor/performer on stage come out to interact with the singer for...

Club Valentine Tour

Slayyyter

With Support From:

BAYLI

2023-11-03

Pop sensation Slayyyter brought her club sound to Detroit and had the venue vibrating to her beats.

The Club Valentine Tour definitely gave club vibes. From her opening outfit, a white blazer and little else, to the stage design, which was absolutely perfect adding to the club feel, Club Valentine would be the Pop-Up club I'd want to go party at. There was a DJ booth to the side, a dance stage in the middle towards the back, and a lounge area to sit and sip your martinis. Add in a couple of palm trees and it felt like any high-end club you'd find in Miami or L.A. Slayyter is, and gives, nothing short of high-end.

With the show broken into 4 acts, plus an encore, Slayyyter gave us multiple...

The Trilogy Tour

Pitbull

With Support From:

Enrique Iglesias

Ricky Martin

2023-11-01

I think The Trilogy Tour could also be called the Eras Tour or the Spiderman: No Way Home of Hispanic/Latino music. This is a tour you don't see everyday and, in my opinion, is a once in a lifetime opportunity with an amazing lineup of Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, and of course "Mr. Worldwide", the incredible Pitbull. This tour is also unique because all three performers switch out the order each night, so you never know who will be the "headliner" or the "opener" for each show. They all give full performances lastingn about an hour and a half per set. For the sold-out first night in Chicago, it was Ricky Martin opening with Enrique Iglesias playing second and Pitbull closing out!

Mr. Worldwide, Mr. 305, Mr. Right Now, Pitbull, is hands down one of my favorite artists/performers and I was so excited to be able to catch him live for a 3rd time! I saw a ton of Pitbull cosplayers which...
