The weather outside was cold and snowy, but Nessa Barrett made it a hot night inside The Fillmore Detroit. Those brave enough to journey out I've been a fan of Pom Pom Squad ever since I heard "Head Cheerleader" from their 2021 album Death Of A Cheerleader. When I recently saw them perform "Street Fighter" on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Link Here, and found out about the current tour I immediately looked up the date and made plans to go to my local show.

I wasn't the only fan excited about them coming to town. As I looked around I saw many of them wearing "Angel Wings". I didn't understand the significance of it until the band came out and they were all wearing wings too. I love seeing fans pay tribute to the artists like that. I'm sure that is something the band loves too!

My First _ North American Tour

There's no denying the rise of K-Pop on the global music landscape. It was inevitable there would eventually be K-Pop acts with international members. While I don't know if AMPERS&ONE is the first such group or not, I do know that they are the best international K-Pop artists that I've seen live. With members from Canada (Brian), U.S.A. (Kamden & Kyrell), Australia (Mackiah) and S. Korea (Jiho, Siyun, & Seungmo) AMPERS&ONE is truly a global powerhouse.

I was prepared to call their "My First _ in" North American Tour 100 minutes of fun; the main set lasted right around 100 minutes, but then they came back and gave us an encore and 115 minutes of fun just doesn't have the same ring to it.

The weather outside was cold and snowy, but Nessa Barrett made it a hot night inside The Fillmore Detroit. Those brave enough to journey out would not be disappointed. I first heard of Nessa in 2023 during her Young Forever Tour after our media coordinator covered the Chicago show and immediately told me afterwards that I needed to keep an eye out for Nessa to come to Detroit.

Intrigued by the excitement of Nessa's show, I went online so I could hear what she was all about. I really dug her sound and knew I'd want to catch her live as soon as I could. It's been a minute, but I finally had the chance to see Nessa on Friday night. It was a great present to myself as it was my birthday the next day.

I'm one of those people who like to get to a concert early. As long as the weather is nice, I actually enjoy waiting in line and listening to all the excited fans talk about the songs they hope the artist will play, or simply how much they love the artist they came out to see. It's particularly important to get there early when the show is general admission, after all we all want to have our best view of the stage, but even when a show has assigned seating, generally a few of us will come early to the show.

When I came out to Jessie Murph's recent show in Ann Arbor MI, I had to double check my ticket. It had assigned seating yet the line-up to get into the theater was crazy. It really felt like everyone who was coming to the show decided to come out early. Of course, I heard the usual fan banter; "I hope she plays 'Pray'", which she did, or things like "this is my third time seeing Jessie, I just love her so much". There are a lot of bands out there who could learn from Hanson. Currently on their underneath experience tour, Hanson is doing it right. Each stop on the tour features two nights of music, featuring two different set lists; two different opening act; and two different styles of music: the first night being acoustic while the second night is electric. It really is two completely different experiences. I wish more bands would do this type of thing.

Seeing Hanson is a chance to relive 25+ years of memories. (Has it seriously been 25+ years)? They gave us all the classic songs we love from them such as "Dream Girl", "If Only" and "Penny & Me", along with several covers and melodies. What can I say about FLETCHER? She sounds great live. Both her and her entire band put on a fun, energetic show. She is fast becoming an icon.

Due to technical difficulties, FLETCHER's sold out Detroit show started about 30 minutes late. With multiple stage hands scrambling to remove the giant video screen at the back of the stage, the crowd realized there was some sort of issue. Instead of being angry over the delay, practically everyone in attendance remained calm and simply talked amongst themselves. There was no yelling for the show to start. I love when I go to a concert and the band puts on a dynamic show. It pumps you up and makes a fun night out an even better experience. Unfortunately it seems that some artists will try to find any excuse they can to just stand at the microphone doing no to very little moving once they are there. Thankfully, other artists, such as Cage The Elephant's front man Matt Shultz seem to understand that fans love movement on stage and as such he wants to make it a memorable night out for those who took the time out of their night to come see him and the band. Having recently broken his right foot, Matt could have easily used that as an excuse to just sit in a chair and sing behind the mic stand. Being an actual performer, that wasn't an opinion Matt wanted to pursue. He came out on stage with his foot elevated on a mobility scooter so Matt was easily able to zip around...

Pitbull not working hard? Yeah, right. Picture that with a Kodak. Or better yet, go to Credit Union One Amphitheatre on a Friday night in August for yet another sold-out show with a 1,000+ fans not only dressed like him but even getting custom-made shirts of him! Now that is what I call insane!

As many know, I am a huge fan of Pitbull, not only as a performer, but just as someone who is always positive on and off the stage! So being able to see him, for a 4th time, is absolutely a dream come true. Before you ask, does it get boring seeing him this many times? Not at all! Each show/tour that this man does, is always different and unique and I am fully here for it! This time around the opener for this tour is T-Pain which give me 2010 nostalgic vibes, especially when he came on stage and performed "Hey Baby" live with Pitbull! I last saw PVRIS in 2017 so I was excited to see what they would bring to the stage this time around, after all, over the last seven years so many things have changed for them. Since 2017, PVRIS has released two additional LP's (2020's Use Me and 2023's Evergreen) and an EP (2019's Hallucinations); they have switched record labels, going from Rise/Warner to Hopeless; and there has been significant line-up changes within the band. While Lynn Gunn has long been the front person and face of the band, from an outsiders perspective it appears that she has now taken full creative control over the band.

Who is that masked cowboy? If you are asking that, then you obviously are not familiar with Orville Peck. Peck is known equally for his trademark masks and his catchy country songs. Currently on his Stampede Tour, Orville Peck brought his show to Michigan's Meadow Brook Amphitheatre.

When you attend an Orville Peck concert, there are a few rules that he wants you to be aware of. First, you have to sing along even if you don't know the words. Or, especially if you don't know the words. He says that it makes it really fun for everyone in the band.
