Pvris - 2024 - 06

I last saw Pvris in 2017 so I was excited to see what they would bring to the stage this time around, after all, over the last seven years so many things have changed for them. Since 2017, Pvris has released two additional LP's (2020's Use Me and 2023's Evergreen) and an EP (2019's Hallucinations); they have switched record labels, going from Rise/Warner to Hopeless; and there has been significant line-up changes within the band. While Lynn Gunn has long been the front person and face of the band, from an outsiders perspective it appears that she has now taken full creative control over the band.

Originally Pvris was best described as "Metalcore", but time gives you the chance to explore other genres and musical stylings. With Use Me and Evergreen venturing into electro-pop and alter-rock I found it exciting to find out that Pvris new music coming out that they were promoting you can hear live on the tour, the recently released "Oil & Water" and "Burn the Witch" which bring their sound full circle.

Pvris is known for have very dark lighting during their shows. It's a photographer's nightmare, but it totally suits their music. Personally, I was impressed with Lynn's performance. Her confidence on the stage has definitely increased since I last saw Pvris.

Joining Pvris on this leg of the tour is Manchester England's PALE WAVES. I have to admit, I'm a fan of PALE WAVES, so when I saw they were going to be part of this tour, it was a bonus.

Their short set, it was only 9 songs, was a selection of their best as well as their latest single, "Perfume", which is from their forth coming album Smitten. I'm personally digging this track and think it's their best so far and I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

Opening the night was Sizzy Rocket. I had never heard of her before that night, but she did an excellent job at getting the crowd excited for the night ahead. Sizzy gave us a fun and energetic set and the 30 minutes she was on stage made me want to check out more of her music when I got home.
